Taking the N59 in the direction of Clifden via Oughterard, Maam Cross and Recess (Sraith Salach on some maps). After passing through Oughterard (a nice town to stop for a break with a lovely park transected by a running stream), and Maam Cross (recognizable by Peacocks hotel - a yellow building with clock tower) you will arrive at Recess, marked by a small road house with a shop ("Joyces") and pub ("Jack Bills"). Continuing a further 2 miles along the N59 after Recess take a left turn onto the R340 where the hotel is sign-posted. A further 3 miles on the R340 there is a right turn where you will see another signpost for Cashel and the hotel. The Zetland Country House Hotel Connemara is situated on the right hand side 0.8 of a mile from the turn. Please take the second entrance to the hotel which will lead to the front car-park.

Directions from Galway

The Zetland Country House Hotel Connemara is located approximately 40 miles north west of Galway City. From the city centre it will take 1-1.5hrs to drive, depending largely on the traffic in Galway City.

From the city centre (Eyre Square), take the N59 in the direction of Clifden via Oughterard, Maam Cross and Recess (Sraith Salach on some maps). After passing through Oughterard (a nice town to stop for a break with a lovely park transected by a running stream), and Maam Cross (recognizable by Peacocks hotel - a yellow building with clock tower) you will arrive at Recess, marked by a small road house with a shop ("Joyces") and pub ("Jack Bills"). Continuing a further 2 miles along the N59 after Recess take a left turn onto the R340 where the hotel is sign-posted. Directions from Shannon

Departing from Shannon Airport you will need to take the N19 which heads northwest. This will come to a junction at Hurler's Cross where you need to take the N18 north, in the direction of Ennis. Continuing along the N18 after Ennis you will pass through Barefield, Crusheen, Gort, Kiltartan, Laban, Ardrahan and Clarinbridge. After Clarinbridge you will arrive at Oranmore where you need to turn north west onto the N6 in the direction of Galway. Coming into Galway, you have the option to by-pass the city centre, which can be done by following the signs marked N59 towards Clifden. You can also continue to the city centre which is a great place to visit overnight, or for a meal and some shopping!

Directions from Sligo

Travelling south from sligo, through Westport, you continue on the N59 to Leenane. The N59 then continues along the Killary Harbour, along a scenic drive past Kylemore Abbey, the Connemara National Park and through Letterfrack. This road will then lead to Clifden which is the main town of Connemara with many shops, restaurants and pubs. From Clifden, if taking the N59 (Galway) road south it is about 16 miles (25 minutes) to a right hand turn on the R340 (sign posted for the hotel). Three miles along this road there is another right hand turn onto the R342. The Zetland Country House Hotel Connemara is 0.8 miles along the R342 on the right. Please take the second entrance on the right which will lead to the front car park.
