The Art of Managing Stress

Workload, tight deadlines, politics, difficult relationships, being in a job you're not confident about, poor eating and drinking habits all or any of these put pressure on your system. A common reaction to stress is to try and escape, at least temporarily, to take a coffee or for a smoke but this only adds to the toxins creating pressure on your body. You need to deal with the underlying causes and this course will help you to learn to manage them:

  • how to recognise stress in self and others
  • the physiological effects of stress
  • personality and stress
  • develop strategies to cope with stress - and identify which of these are strategies for managing as opposed to surviving stress
  • moving from surviving to managing stress, including managing time, managing change, becoming more assertive, building self esteem, removing negative thought patterns, the role of nutrition and exercise and effective relaxation techniques.

    40% of worker turnover is due to job stress. The Xerox Corporation estimates that it costs approximately $1-$1.5 million to replace a top executive, and average employee turnover costs between $2,000 to $13,000 per individual.
